As you can probably tell, this blog has been on hiatus. I’ve been away for a month or so in Warsaw, Poland.
I wondered about whether or not to put these pictures up - I like the idea of keeping this space pure Christchurch - but Warsaw won out. It definitely deserves it. It’s a very cool city. It runs the spectrum from classical, to eastern european flair, to concrete stalinist blocks, to glassy, reflective skyscrapers, to decrepit, abandoned buildings - the area I was staying in, the old jewish ghetto, resembled Christchurch really strongly in some ways, being on the edge of development, juxtaposing the falling-down and the brand new - and sometimes all within one block. It feels restless, shifting, changing, and full of energy and potential in the way only a big city can.
I’m home now, and it feels good. Expect a return to regular programming soon.
canterbury tales was so surreal - one never knew what was going to happen next.
